It is a technique using photosensitivity to strengthen corneal collagen. It carries out in two stages put on liquid riboflavin to the cornea and dosed action of controlled ultraviolet radiation. This treatment method stops degenerative-destructive changes in the cornea in diseases such as keratoconus, keratoglobus, central and peripheral corneal dystrophy, complications after refractive surgery.

There are some limitations to crosslinking eye surgery such as corneal thickness of fewer than 400 microns, previous herpes infection, corneal opacities, dry eye syndrome, some autoimmune diseases.
