Blepharoplasty

Modern plastic surgery allows for solving both aesthetic issues and some medical problems.

Blepharoplasty is one of the most common rejuvenation operations.

Indications for blepharoplasty:

– drooping of the upper eyelid (ptosis) and/or lacrimal gland

– laxity and drooping of the skin of the eyelids

– “fat bags” in the area of the upper and lower eyelids

– wrinkles around the eyes

– Inversion of the lower eyelid

– Torsion of the lower eyelid

– The presence of neoplasms on the eyelids

Types of blepharoplasty in "Ophthalmology groups"

Upper blepharoplasty allows you to get rid of excess skin and fat in the area of the upper eyelid. You can refresh and open your view as a result of this operation. Upper blepharoplasty can be performed under local or general anesthesia at the patient’s request.

Lower blepharoplasty – allows you to get rid of “bags” under the eyes.

There are several options for lower blepharoplasty:

– transconjunctival is an incision made on the inside of the eyelid, and fat hernias are removed through the mucous membrane, such incisions do not require sutures

– classic lower blepharoplasty allows you to remove excess skin and fatty hernias, fix the lower eyelid in the correct position, and strengthen the position of the circular muscle of the eye. During such operation, the incision is located under the line of eyelash growth and becomes almost invisible within a week.

Circular blepharoplasty is a one-time combination of upper and lower blepharoplasty

Elimination of ptosis of the upper eyelid. Ptosis – drooping of the upper eyelid. There is a distinction between age-related and congenital post-traumatic ptosis. The choice of the method of correcting ptosis of the upper eyelid is made individually for each patient, depending on the causes and function of the muscle that lifts the upper eyelid.

Elimination of inversion of the lower eyelid. Torsion of the eyelid – a condition in which the edge of the lower eyelid is turned towards the eye, while the eyelashes can rub and injure the eye. Inversion of the eyelid – in this case, the ciliary edge, on the contrary, does not adhere to the eye, there is no complete closure of the eye, which leads to dryness, trauma, and inflammation.

Elimination of strabismus. Strabismus is a condition in which one or both eyes deviate from their normal position. Surgical treatment of strabismus is performed in cases where treatment is not effective. The purpose of the operation is to move the place of attachment of the external muscles of the eye to obtain the physiological position of the eye. Operative treatment of strabismus is possible in patients of any age.

Removal of neoplasms of the eyelids. Neoplasms of the eyelids are one of the most widespread formations by localization. Neoplasms on the eyelids lead not only to cosmetic defects but also sometimes too serious changes in the eye, a decrease or loss of vision.

Benign and malignant formations are distinguished.

Benign ones include – papillomas, xanthelasma, hemangiomas, fibromas, lipomas, nevi.

Malignant ones include basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas, adenocarcinomas, and melanomas.

The sooner you consult a doctor and undergo an ophthalmological examination, the more aesthetic and functional the result of surgical treatment can be obtained
